Our highly trained and experienced team of practice nurses run daily surgeries by appointment. They are supplemented by help from phlebotomists (medical professionals who specialise in taking blood samples) and healthcare assistants (HCAs) who also run their own appointment lists for their departments.
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
When telephoning for medical attention the receptionists will ask for a few details. This information is then used to ensure that your appointment is made with the right clinician. The details you give only need to be brief and are then passed on to the clinician at the time the appointment is booked. Please be assured that the rules of confidentiality apply equally to all staff. Our team of receptionists will help you at all times in the surgery to ensure you obtain the best treatment with the most appropriate clinician available.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. The health visitor can be contacted by telephoning 01209 886500.
Our community matrons looks after patients in their own home. Referral is through a doctor.
The nursing team care for housebound patients such as the elderly, chronically ill, or patients recovering from recent operations. This service is arranged by the patient’s doctor.
We have a midwife attached to the practice who is normally in attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays for antenatal clinics. Midwives can be contacted via reception.
